Car rides are always funny when you get to a stop sign

"My expression says 'you overcharged me for that pickle!' but yours says 'WHY DID YOU KILL MY MOTHER?'" - Elise, on the somewhat overly long car ride to the beach.

The water was wild. A storm actually passed over us while we were in the ocean - when it started to rain we raced out of the water, with warm, heavy rain pounding our backs, and suddenly a barrage of hail, running to put our bags and towels into the car. Upon returning, we paused for a moment at the fringe of buildings along the beach. Even as we hesitated, wondering if we should go back toward the ocean during a storm, a flash of lightning struck the sand barely 30 feet away between us and the water. An explosion of light and of sound - it's as splinter-thin close up as it is from far away, and pure white, but only for a second; and the sound is simultaneous - no wait, no counting "one one-thousand, two one-thousand" till the thunder sounds.... and a pressure wave, which was almost indistinguishable from the sound, in that the sound was so strong it seemed perfectly capable of being a pressure wave.
Wow.

This guy had the right idea. When it started raining, he got out and set up the rain flap. I almost fell in love with him.
